Happy Independence Day!

Special Report Jul 4, 2017

“I do hereby recommend to the present and future generations the principles of that important document as the best earthly inheritance their ancestors could bequeath to them.”

  – Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Maryland Signer of the Declaration of Independence

Charles Carroll was a farmer, U.S. Senator, and a Marylander. He was also a revolutionary who was willing give his life for a new nation’s freedom.

Each July 4th is a time to reflect on Senator Carroll, his fellow countrymen and women, and the sacrifices they endured to secure liberty. It is also a time to reflect on the blessings bestowed across the centuries to generations of Americans. Our God-given rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness were enshrined in our nation’s heart 241 years ago and are the ideals we here at the Maryland Public Policy Institute fight for every day.

On behalf of the entire Institute, I wish you a joyous holiday and hope we all take a moment to remember how extraordinarily blessed we are to be Americans.

Sincerely,

Christopher B. Summers
President and Chief Executive Officer
