ROCKVILLE, MD (April 21, 2017) — The Maryland Public Policy Institute today released the following statement on the passing of former Maryland congressman Larry Hogan, Sr.

“Congressman Hogan exemplified the kind of integrity we all hope for from our elected leaders,” said Christopher B. Summers, president and chief executive officer of the Institute. “His decision to put the nation’s interests ahead of his political party’s interests during the Watergate investigation showed uncommon political courage. He was a tough, independent-minded leader and we will miss him. We extend our most sincere condolences to the Hogan family for their loss.”

Larry Hogan, Sr., represented Maryland’s 5th congressional district from 1969 to 1975. He also served as Prince George’s County Executive from 1978 to 1982.
