ROCKVILLE, MD  (June 29, 2015) — Christopher B. Summers has joined the Maryland Chamber of Commerce’s tax policy committee.  Mr. Summers is president of the Maryland Public Policy Institute, a nonpartisan research organization in Rockville that has conducted extensive research on Maryland’s tax climate.

“The Chamber plays a critical role setting the policy agenda for Maryland’s job creators,” said Summers.  “I look forward to contributing to the tax committee’s work so that we can make Maryland a better place to start, grow and invest in a business.”

“Christopher brings a wealth of insights to our tax policy committee,” said Brien Poffenberger, president and CEO of the Chamber. “We share a deep commitment to improving the business climate in Maryland and I am confident that Christopher’s involvement can help us reach that goal.”

This is the third time Mr. Summers has been named to a policy committee in the past year.  He recently served on the Hogan-Rutherford Transition Team and in 2014 was appointed to the City of Baltimore’s Tax Policy Review Group by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.

The Chamber’s tax committee works to strengthen the state’s competitive tax climate to help attract and retain businesses, workers, and investment.  The committee chair is Herman Rosenthal of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston LLP.
