Institute Commends Mayor Pugh’s State of the City Speech

Mar 17, 2017

ROCKVILLE, MD (March 17, 2017) — The Maryland Public Policy Institute today commended Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh for focusing on education reform and economic development in her State of the City address Thursday.

“We applaud Mayor Pugh for recognizing that economic growth and school reform are the antidotes to many of the challenges facing Baltimore,” said Christopher B. Summers, president and chief executive officer of the Institute. “Homelessness, crime and unemployment are often the byproduct of a failing school system and lack of good jobs. Baltimore must institute broad based tax relief to spur job growth and insist on comprehensive public school reform to be a Superstar City once again. We stand ready to assist the Pugh Administration in any way can.”
