Maryland citizens and businesses should have faith in and access to their government.  For more than a decade, though, the state has scored poorly on independent transparency and accountability report cards. The Maryland Public Policy Institute’s key recommendations for government integrity and transparency are:

1. Safeguard the redistricting process from partisan manipulation
2. Promote online searchable databases of state and local spending, legislation, contracts, and ethics forms
3. Stream all legislative committee and subcommittee hearings live online
4. Minimize sole-source contracts from state agencies
